Terror can earn a gatepass into the city for Rs50 only. Just a week after the 26/11 attacks, truckers were seen greasing the palms of the cops at Dahisar checknaka to get truckloads of consignments into the city, unchecked.
On Wednesday, DNA visited the checknaka and found that the two policemen posted there to "check" vehicles entering and leaving the city were slack in their duty.
Over 200 heavy vehicles entered Mumbai through the checknaka in a span of two hours. Drivers of most of the trucks and tempos bribed the policemen. The cops did not even perfunctorily check those vehicles. They did not check the documents of the vehicles either.
Very often, the drivers had cash ready in their hands as the vehicles neared the checknaka. The policemen then approached the drivers and slyly collected the money from them.
"On an average, around 150 trucks and tempos enter Mumbai in an hour through the chechnaka," truck driver Mohan Chaudhary, who has to often pass through the checknaka, said. "The police are supposed to properly check the vehicles and the consignments they carry. But, often, they take bribe from the drivers and let the vehicles pass," he said. Drivers of trucks and tempos from within Mumbai and its suburbs have to pay a minimum of Rs50, while those from outside the city have to shell out Rs200, Chaudhary said. "The amount is much more if the police happen to find that the papers are not in order."
It is not possible to check each and every vehicle, an officer of the Dahisar checknaka police chowkie said. Vehicles are checked if the police find something suspicious about them, he said.

D ironic reality... Bitter truth...
An Olympic shooter wins Gold (Only a game) & Government gives him 3 Crores
Another Shooter dies, fighting with terrorists (Saving our country and our live) & government pays his family 5 lakhs.
Really great!!!!!!!!!!! Hats off to our Government!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3rd December's Rally - Indian Youth's Biggest GIMMICK...
i am sure the subject might have bounced you off your seat... but trust me by the end of the mail you would feel the same...
lets analyze yesterday's rally... a group of "youngsters" "celebrities" came together to protest against the "government"...
a silent peach protest which turned into a rally... every 1 was trying to outsmart each other by speaking more sarcastic slogans....
this was "INDIA's TOMORROW"... the youth who want to bring change...(PS: Only if they get a chance)
All of a sudden a bunch of college junkies feels a sense of patriotism... why? just because.. it wasnt a "PROTEST" ... it was a "MEDIA EVENT"...
we say that today india facing worst problems like "Corruption" "Terrorism" etc... but what i strongly feel is the biggest problem of india is.. the electronic media misusing the "FREEDOM OF PRESS/SPEECH"
The terrorist attack was turned into an own version of "TV SOAP OPERA" by each and every news channel... every news channel trying to beat each other with there "KHAAS KHULASA" "BREAKING NEWS" and what not...
Yesterday's rally was not organized to protest against any politician or any thing... but was a cheap way to earn publicity over someone's grief...
I dont know what outrages me more... what terrorist did or what the so called "youth of india" is doing...
what the city or for that fact the country needs is no "NAARE BAZI" or any reaction over what has happened..... but a sense of action...
Patriotism isnt a state of mind.... nor does it mean to kill or die for the nation... its about doing something for the nation... the people who attended the rally yesterday... as every of them how many hav done some thing for the nation??
All the country want is every individual to be a responsible citizen... things would fall in place on its own...
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH... Stop it guys.. stop doing things to be popular....
Start doing things for the nation... it needs you... it actually does
